Mangalore, Dec 26: Swarna Jaswant (19), daughter of Jaswant from Yekkur in the city, who had suffered a fall after a step of her college in Bangalore gave way, breathed her last at a hospital in Bangalore on Sunday December 25.

Swarna, after completing second PU education in an institution the city, had joined a fashion technology course of a college in Bangalore. She was a second year student of this course.

When taking the steps to reach the second floor of her college on December 21, one of the steps leading to the second floor broke, as a result of which she fell on to a glass floor by the side of the staircase and crashed to the ground floor more than 20 ft below. She suffered extensive head and leg injuries in the accident. She had been shifted to a hospital in comatose condition, where she received treatment.

She continued to be in the intensive care unit of the hospital till her last breath. Her family members said that the student’s body would be brought here from Bangalore on Monday.
