Mangaluru, Apr 22: Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy on Wednesday confirmed that the Karnataka Control of Organised Crimes Act (KCOCA) has been invoked against all the accused involved in the murder of Arif (46), a fish trader and rowdy-sheeter from Bunder.

The commissioner stated that the necessary orders have been submitted to the court. Consequently, the case will be transferred to a special court in Mysuru for further trial.

Investigations have revealed the involvement of 15 individuals in the murder case. To date, 10 persons have been arrested. They were previously taken into police custody for interrogation and have now been remanded to judicial custody following the completion of the custodial period.

Sudheer Kumar Reddy further noted that the role of five additional suspects came to light during the investigation. Some of these suspects are reportedly abroad, and legal measures are being initiated to secure their arrest and bring them to justice.

Under the stringent KCOCA, being a partner in or identifying with an organised crime syndicate is a punishable offence. The commissioner emphasised that stringent sections would be applied based on the specific role played by each accused in the murder, ensuring they face rigorous legal consequences.
