Bhajan troupes add charm to Ganeshotsava; Khadar hails Bunts

Mangalore, Sep 1: State health and family welfare minister, U T Khadar, hailed Bunts community for being creative and making immense contributions to the society as a whole. 'Let us move ahead with the blessings of Lord Ganapati. Youth can achieve wonders if they get blessings from elders. The Bunts community has made tremendous impact in the district as well as Mumbai,' he noted. The minister was speaking after participating in the religious meeting organized as part of the Sarvajanika Ganeshotsava at Bunts Hostel Circle here on Saturday August 30.

Sports, youth services, and fisheries minister, Abhay Candra Jain, stressed the importance of devotion and earnestness while praying to the God, and felt that with God's grace, hard days and problems can be dealt without difficulty. MLC, Ivan D'Souza, said that Ganeshotsava happens to be a symbol of national integrity and hence is celebrated in the form of a national festival.

MLA, Mohiuddin Bawa, Rev Dr Hannibal Cabral, Urmila Ramesh, and Konjaluguttu Prabhakar Shetty, participated as chief guests. On this occasion, Ivan D'Souza, Janaki Brahmavar, Aroor Prabhakar Rao, Dr Vidyadhar Shetty, Nirmala Kamath, Dr Atulkumar Shetty, Manohar Shetty, Rohit Kumar Kateel, as well as Chandrahas Rai Bolnaduggu were felicitated. Jain also released the monthly publication of Buntara Matru Sangha, 'Namma Samparka' , which was brought out with new design. Journalists, B Raveendra Shetty and Jagannath Shetty Bala, were present.

A grand immersion procession relating to the 11th annual Sarvajanika Vinayaka Chaturthi celebrations taken out from Omkar Nagar at Bunts Hostel here on Sunday August 31 drew lot of public attention because of glittering tableaux, participation of large gathering in colourful dresses, and the devotional touch provided by a large number of troupes chanting Bhajans, all of which accompanied the gloriously bedecked vehicle carrying the idol of Lord Ganesha.

The annual Ganesha procession, being organized by Sri Siddhivinayaka Foundation in Bunts Hostel here, is well-known for the detailed attention given to the adherence to religious procedures and a large number of troupes chanting Bhajans which form part of the immersion procession. The procession which began at 5.30 pm was accompanied by women, college students, Bhajan troupes including some exclusively comprising children, among others.

Members of Buntara Sangh danced to the tune of Nasik Band during the procession, which was accompanied among others, by former state minister, B Nagaraja Shetty, managing trustee of Siddhivinayaka Foundation, Ajit Kumar Rai Malady, office bearers of organizing committee, Shedde Manjunath Bhandary, Raviraj Shetty, Rajesh Naik, Diwakar Samani, Kenchanur Somashekhar Shetty, Meghanath Shetty, Manmohan Shetty, Hemanath Shetty, Nitteguttu Raviraj Shetty, K Balakrishna Shetty, Krishnaprasad Rai, Krishnaraj Sulaya, Shashiraj Shetty Kolambe, Dr Ashajyothi Rai, Devanand Shetty, Sudhakar Punja Hosabettu, M Sundar Shetty, Ullas Shetty Permude, Ganesh Shetty, Jayaram Santa, Chandrahas Shetty, Umesh Rai, and a large number of others.

The procession, which traversed through Bunts Hostel Circle, PVS Circle, Dongerkery and Car Street, reached the tank adjacent to Goddess Mahamaya Temple where the idol of the Lord was immersed to the chanting of His glory by devotees.

Movement of buses on the road stretch between Bunts Hostel and PVS Circle was diverted during the period of the procession, while other vehicles were allowed to move as usual.
