Mangalore, Sep 7: Karnataka Dalit Sangharsha Samiti(R)(DSS) organized a one day seminar on 'All-time Problems of Dalits' and all members meeting on Sunday September 7 at DK District Panchayat Higher Primary School here.

State chief convener of DSS Mavalli Shankar inaugurated the ceremony.

In his inaugural speech Mavalli said, "Day by day rich people are becoming richer and poor people are becoming poorer. The report done by Human Development Index shows that there are 60% of people who are starving to death in Karnataka."

"It is really amusing that our prime minister Modi has not mentioned Jyotirao Phule's name in his Teachers' Day speech. He was a pioneer in promoting women's education in India. In Raichur, Gulbarga and other places, women are dying at the time of childbirth. Government schools are shutting down and no one is talking about them. Corporate sectors and communal forces are behind Modi's government and cause these problems," he added.

He also said that nearly 8 lac acres of land which should be given to the poor by the state government was encroached by the politicians.

"Only government changes, but not the principles of the politicians. Middle class men are loosing their jobs because the private sector is entering India. Liberalization, privatization and globalization have made us stay low in the society," he added.

Chandu L, Murthi Bisnalli, Krishna Murthi, Sunder and others were also present on the occasion.
