Sullia: Veteran of Co-oprative and Kannada Movement Kote Vasant Kumar Breathes His Last

Sullia, Sep 6: Kote VasantKumar(71), ex-president of Sullia Taluk Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Janatadal(U) district president, member of the District Kannada Jagruti Samiti, managing trustee of Kote Sri Subrahmanya Temple and veteran leader of co-oprative movement, breathed his last on Friday September 5. He is survived by wife, a daughter and sons, well known singer Shashidhar Kote and enterpreneur Raghuram Kote.

Kumar, who kept himself busy by getting engaged in various activities always, had organized five Sahitya Sammelans during his five-year tenure as the Sullia taluk Kannada Sahitya parishat. As the president of Chutuku Sahitya Parishat, he successfully organised the district level Chutuku Sahitya Sammelan. He had served as the president of Kalanja Balila Agricultural Service Co-operative Bank, Sullia Taluk Land Development Bank, DK District Apiary Co-operative Society, DK Agriculturists Co-operative Marketting Society etc.,

He had also served as the president of Kalanja Mandal Panchayat and office bearer of the district union of Mandal Pradhans. He was serving as the president of the district Netaji Vedike of Karnataka Panchayat council and working committee member of the state level Netaji Vedike, at the time of his demise.

After working for the setting up of Bellare first grade government college, he served as the secretary of it's development committee. He also served as the office bearer of Panja Seema Havyaka Mahasabha, DK district, Kasargod district and Central Havyaka Mahasabha etc.,  He was one of the founders of Kalanja Yuvaka Mandal and chief editor of 'Grama Bandhu,' manuscripted publication. He started serving the social sector as the manager of Kalanja Balila Multi-purpose Co-operative Society.
