Mangalore: City Sleuths Arrest Domestic Help; Recover Stolen Cash, Jewellery

Mangalore, Sep 7: City sleuths arrested a domestic help in connection with a theft, on Saturday September 6. The arrested has been identified as Laxmi (25), a resident of Kunjatbail.

Police also recovered Rs 2 .5 lac in cash and silver jewellery from her. Laxmi had stolen this   from the house of a Ramesh Suvarna, located in front of Mangala playground, Gandhi Nagar, where she had worked from the beginning of March to the end of August.

She had given a portion of the loot to her sister Bharati, for safe-keeping. Barke police registered a case against Laxmi, following a complaint lodged by Ramesh and Urmila Suvarna.  

City north sub-inspector G Umesh Shet, Barke, head constable Mohandas, policemen Santosh Kumar Sasihitlu, Satish M R, and Balakrishna,  and police constable Jalajakshi, were involved in her arrest. Laxmi was later presented in court, police sources informed.

    The names of the Police Inspector right down to the consatble and even the driver of the jeep is published in the media. For what ? nobody knows. All what they have done is their duty. Let the police also publish their cadre names in respect of failed investigations which far out number successful ones. Avoid accountability, swallow rewards.

    She has just been caught byt the police. There is still a process of court and declaring her guilty, though she herself has agreed to the theft. Till then prudence says that her picture should not be in the news item.
