Udupi, Sep 8: An agriculture information camp was held by Giri Balaga, at Vasudev Gurukul, Kunjalgiri, near here, on Sunday September 7. It was jointly-organized by the district agriculturists' association, agriculture science institute, Bramavar, agriculture research institute, Bangalore, zilla panchayat, plantations department, Corporation Bank, Kurkalu, Syndicate Bank, Madhwanagar, and Innanje agricultural co-operative bank.
Giri Balaga honorary president and progressive farmer Govind Bhat, inaugurated the camp by lighting the lamp and pouring paddy into measure. Zilla panchayat secretary Pranesh Rao, said that the government has introduced several agricultural programmes to support the farming fraternity as they are the backbone of our country.
Agriculturists, as well as others, should strive for the progress of the farming sector. Social welfare and voluntary organizations should also extend their support in this regard. District agriculturists' association president Radhakrishna Sharma, presided over the programme.
Agriculture science centre Bramavar project co-coordinator Dr M K Honnabairayya, plantations department assistant director Sudhindra Kumar, taluk panchayat member Navin Amin Shankarapura, Kurkalu gram panchayat president Mahesh Shetty, Belle gram panchayat president Shashidar Wagle, Corporation Bank Kurkalu branch manager Vinay Kumar, district agriculturists' association chief secretary Kudi Srinivas Bhat, and others were present on the occasion. Giri Balaga president Madwaraj Bhat proposed the vote of thanks.
