Mangalore, Sep 8: Former MP Janardan Poojary noted, that knowledge of English brightens the future prospects of people. A person having command over English gets lot of opportunities, he commented and advised people from backward communities to send their children to English medium schools.
Addressing the gathering after inaugurating the newly constructed first floor of Madivala Sabhabhavana in Bangra Kuloor in the city on Sunday September 7, he expressed the view, that there is a need to open new English medium schools in the state. Teaching in English is very much necessary for the better future of the children, he stressed and added that education enables people to get good status in society.
Turning nostalgic, Poojary said, that power is not permanent and one need to serve the weaker sections when in power. Recollecting that he had sanctioned Rs 15 lac for the Bhavan from out of his MP development fund, he promised to donate a further sum of Rs 50,000 from out of his pension.
Speaking to the press on the occasion, Poojary commented in a sarcstic tone, that the state government is being run by Shobhakka(Shobha Karandlaje), and not by chief minister B S Yeddyurappa. Although the state government run by the BJP is completing 100 days in power soon, it has done nothing noteworthy. No development works are visible and the BJP lacks in knowledge and experience in administration. While the government has failed to replenish the government treasury during the 100 days, personal treasuries of the ministers have been filled up to the brim, he commented.
In a memorandum submitted on the occasion to Poojary, Dakshina Kannada district Madivala Sangh urged the government to include Madivala community under scheduled caste category.
MLC Shankrappa, Sangh president Suresh Bekal etc., were present.
