Mangalore: Janardan Poojary In Favour of Opening More English Medium Schools

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Sep 8: Former MP Janardan Poojary noted, that knowledge of English brightens the future prospects of people. A person having command over English gets lot of opportunities, he commented and advised people from backward communities to send their children to English medium schools.

Addressing the gathering after inaugurating the newly constructed first floor of Madivala Sabhabhavana in Bangra Kuloor in the city on Sunday September 7, he expressed the view, that there is a need to open new English medium schools in the state. Teaching in English is very much necessary for the better future of the children, he stressed and added that education enables people to get good status in society.

Turning nostalgic, Poojary said, that power is not permanent and one need to serve the weaker sections when in power. Recollecting that he had sanctioned Rs 15 lac for the Bhavan from out of his MP development fund, he promised to donate a further sum of Rs 50,000 from out of his pension.

Speaking to the press on the occasion, Poojary commented in a sarcstic tone, that the state government is being run by Shobhakka(Shobha Karandlaje), and not by chief minister B S Yeddyurappa. Although the state government run by the BJP is completing 100 days in power soon, it has done nothing noteworthy. No development works are visible and the BJP lacks in knowledge and experience in administration. While the government has failed to replenish the government treasury during the 100 days, personal treasuries of the ministers have been filled up to the brim, he commented.

In a memorandum submitted on the occasion to Poojary, Dakshina Kannada district Madivala Sangh urged the government to include Madivala community under scheduled caste category.

MLC Shankrappa, Sangh president Suresh Bekal etc., were present.

Learning one's mother tongue is good but to try shove it down the throats of everyone living in the state is a crime. Our politicians have no comprehension what the wide world is like- imagine an above average graduate who has done all his studies in Kannada wanting to join a company which has offices all over the worldhe definitely loses out as the company can only post him within the "Kannada shadow areas".

If he is posted elsewhere he cannot interact with others, he cannot communicate with his superiors or juniors he can only be a 'loner' who will soon get disallusioned. With English the whole world is open to him ( China is teaching English to 40 million adults every year in a 10 year plan). In India children are forced to study 3/4 languages which is a hevy burden indeed to a small mind imagine the time available to them if it is just one language in school ( never mind which one the parents choose ).

Now to Mr Poojary's allegation of the personal treasuries of all the present ministers getting filled to the brim in 100 days if this is true then why are we, the aam admi, not provided proof by this ex minister- come out in the open Mr JP we want facts and not allegations. You say SK is running the Govt and not BSY is this becoming an epidemic all over the country??? (u get me)

At least one politician (Janardhana Poojary) has guts to stand by English medium schools and the bright opportunities behind it. Rest of the ruling politicians are behind vote bank pleasing Kannada activists like Vatal & Champa who are against the future opportunities of our children. Most of the Bhasha fighters are Koopa Mandooka Types. They want every one to become local language pandits.
