Bangalore, Sep 9: Justice Ravindra Basavraj Naik, judge of the state High Court, submitted his resignation to the High Court Chief Justice P D Dinakaran on Monday September 8. Reportedly, he has cited personal reasons for resigning from his post.

Justice Naik became an advocate in 1980 and practiced as a criminal and civil lawyer in the trial court and the High Court till he was appointed as an additional judge of the state High Court on April 7, 2007.

His judgment in a recent case of serial rape, sentencing the accused to imprisonment all his life, has been considered to be a landmark judgment. The judgment had stated that this would be an apt step towards discouraging those who break law with impunity.
