Bantwal: Live Wire Causes Death of Pedestrian

Bantwal, Sep 13: A pedestrian who accidentially came into contact with a live wire lying on the road at Malaibettu of Sanjipamunnur village near here, died on way to hospital.

The pedestrian, identified as Mohandas Shetty(53) from Malaibettu, was walking along the road on the night of Wednesday September 10. He was not aware, that an electric cable had snapped due to the rain and winds, a few minutes prior to his reaching there. As soon as he stepped on to the live wire, high voltage electricity shook his body violently. As he shouted for help, locals rushed to the spot and pressed the cable aside with the help of wooden stick.

The Mescom officials immediately rushed to the spot and took precautionary measures. They also collected relevant details from the family of the deceased to process compensation claims. Bantwal town police have registered a case.
