Bangalore, Sep 13: It is learnt, that two Karnataka Administrative Services (KAS) officials, Belgaum zilla panchayat chief executive officer D B Nayak and Tumkur zilla panchayat executive officer Govindaraj were about to get promoted to the IAS cadre. However, the raid of Lokayukta seems to have botched their promotion chances.
It is learnt that the Lokayukta has decided to send a detailed report on the unearthing of assets disproportionate to known sources of income of these officials, to the union government. The Lokayukta is said to have also stumbled upon information about investments made by D B Nayak in Goa. The Lokayukta police are following the leads in this connection.
Investigation into the agreement enetered into by Govindaraj for purchase of 30 acres of land in Hulikunte of Doddaballapur taluk, being conducted by the Lokayukta, is progressing. Reportedly, the owner of the land and witnesses to the agreements has been identified. Full details are being gathered.
Lokayukta additional director general Roopak Kumar Dutta has informed that the Lokayukta has come to know that Shimoga assistant director of agriculture K G Manjappa has been maintaining two D-mat accounts for share trading. It might take a few days to collect full details of transactions in these accounts, he said.
During the verification of bank lockers owned by the persons targeted by the Lokayukta, more assets were recovered. Some lockers are yet to be opened by the Lokayukta officials. It was found, that five bank accounts of D B nayak had Rs 8.65 lac in them, while lockers of Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike assistant engineer Chandrashekhar was found to contain 718 grams of gold and deposit receipts for Rs 1.92 lac.
Watershed development department joint director Ramadas had 365 grams of gold in his bank locker.
