Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Sep 14: A tanker containing hot bitumen slipped past the edge of the highway near A J hospital in the city and fell on the roof of a road-side house on Friday September 12.

The incident occured, when the damaged highway was being repaired in front of A J hospital in Kuntikan here. Cleaner of the tanker, who was signalling the driver to reverse the tanker, failed to notice that the rear wheels were moving over the edge of the road. The driver, sensing that the vehicle was tilting, jumped out and saved his life. The tanker got lowered onto the tiled rooof of a house, damaging it thoroughly.

The hot tar then got emptied into the house. Although no one was injured in the accident, the bitumen that has spread into the house and damaged roof have made it very difficult for the inmated of the house to live there.
