Karkala: Thieves Strike in Broad Daylight

Daijiworld Media Network - Karkala (SP)

Karkala, Sep 14: The thieves seem to have beem emboldened by the failure of the police personnel in nabbing themselves and their clan. They either do not want to loose their sleep over stealing or find that burglary during the day is a safer option. This has been evident with the increasing cases of thefts in the twin-districts during the day time, of late.

The thieves who gained entry into a house located in Kukkundoor village near here on Thursday September 11 during the day, took away gold ornaments and cash totalling to around Rs 85,000. They broke open the rear-side door of the house owned by Suguna S Hegde, located near Sri Durgaparameshwari temple of Joduraste and stole a gold chain, bracelets, a pair of ear rings and a pair of ear lobes, totally valued at about Rs 83,000 and cash amounting to Rs 2000.

A case has been registered at Karkala town police station in this connection. The husband as well as the wife are employed and had locked the house while they were away. They realised the theft after coming home late in the evening.
