Udupi: Three Tourists Drown at Malpe Beach

Udupi, Sep 15: In two separate incidents, three persons drowned in sea at Malpe on Sunday September 14 evening.

All the three lost their life, while trying to swim in the sea. Two from among a group of tourists who came from Mangalore and another person from among a duo that came from Manipal, lost their lives. Their bodies are yet to be recovered.

Out of a group of six persons that came here from Mangalore, Sathish (26) from Hassan and Anand (29) from Bhadravati drowned. Both are the employees of KPTCL Konaje near here. A person named Manjunath from among the group filed a complaint with Malpe police station, about the drowning incident that occured at around 4.30 pm.

Majoj Kumar (25), an employee of HPS Cargo Company in Manipal had also come to Malpe from Manipal alongwith Shivaji Yadav, his colleague, on Sunday evening. In a complaint filed with the police, Shivaji Yadav has said that Kumar drowned while swimming in the sea. This tragedy occurred at about 5.10 pm. Manoj Kumar was from Uttar Pradesh.

All the three men who drowned were unmarried, it is gathered.
