Chitradurga, Sep 16: The swamiji of Murugharajendra Math in the district announced on Monday September 15, that the annual 'Basavashree' award being conferred by the math, will be given away this time, to the first woman IPS officer of the country Kiran Bedi.

Speaking to reporters, he said, that Bedi was chosen for this prestigius award, considering her meritorious services and pro-people activities taken up by her while discharging duties as police officer. The award will be handed over to Bedi at a function to be held on October 3 this year,in the premises of the Murugha Math premises here. The award comrpises of one lac rupees in cash and a shield, he explained.
