Bangalore: Eshwarappa, Venkaiah Naidu Criticize Deve Gowda

Bangalore, Sep 17: State energy minister K S Eshwarappa has asked ex-prime minister H D Deve Gowda and his family to stop oblations being conducted by them, invoking divine intervention for creating communal tension in the state.

Speaking to reporters on Monday September 15, he accused Deve Gowda and his family of being ready with a pre-conceived comment against the state government and coming out with it as soon as churches were attacked. Asserting that the government will identify and punish the forces behind attacks on churches in Mangalore, Udupi and Chikmagalur shortly, he asked the opposition to wait till then."We will never pardon any one who take law unto their hands," he cautioned.

Speaking at a press conference in the city, veteran BJP leader M Venkaiah Gowda asked the people not to give weightage to what ex-premier H D Deve Gowda says. We have not taken him seriously so far, and never will, he reiterated. He challenged Gowda to show where the 'Hindutwa Laboratory' as alleged by him, is functioning in the state.

How can you blame the BJP for attacks on churches? Which BJP activists were involved? he questioned. He criticized Gowda of remaining quiet even when some union ministers talk supportively of SIMI and spitting venom as soon as the name of the BJP crops up.
