Legislators Seek Separate Development Board for Khandesh

Mumbai, Oct 24:
An all party delegation of legislators from north Maharashtra met Governor S C Jamir, at Raj Bhavan, on Thursday October 23, and urged him to form a separate development board for Khandesh.
 
The delegation of 20 legislators was led by former minister Rohidas Patil and comprised of Surupsingh Naik, Sureshdada Jain, Amrish Patel, and other people’s representatives from the five districts of the northern part of the state.


 
The delegation pointed out that various irrigation projects in the region were on hold due to inadequate financial assistance. They stressed that the five districts score low on the human development index and have 23 percent of families living below poverty line (BPL).
 
The Governor assured the legislators that he would take up the matter with the chief minister and brings the special problems of the region to his notice.
