Beltangady: Charmadi Ghat Road to Open for Traffic in Three Days - Palemar

Beltangady, Nov 4: District-in-charge minister Krishna J Palemar announced that the Charmadi ghat section of the road, which was closed for repairs since the last some time, will be made motorable within three days and opened for vehicular traffic.

He was speaking at a meeting organized at the Gurunarayana Auditorium in Beltangady on Monday, after inaugurating various development programmes being taken up at various places in the taluk, on Monday November 3.

"Steps are being taken to sanction Rs 16 crore for the repair of Uppinangady-Guruvayankere road and grants will also be made available for the Neriya landslide. The government is just five-month-old and we are flooded with demands for various grants. The present government inherited empty coffers and is faced with the need to pool resources and then spend for development works," he said and asked the officials to ensure that the works sanctioned are executed efficiently.

MLA Vasant Bangera who presided, said that he would not resort to politics as the present programme was apolitical. He sought the support of the minister for the taluk development.

Taluk panchayat president Tulasi Poojary Harabe, vice-president Vijay Kumar, tahsildar Chandramma, severl zilla panchayat members and officials were present.

Assistant engineer Shivprasad Ajila welcomed. Taluk panchayat member Keshav Bangera conducted the programme. When the compere started to praise the ex MLA Prabhakar Bangera, brother of Vasant Bangera, the MLA advised him not to resort to policing and ensured that the compere was replaced by another official.

After the inauguration, a delegation went to Charmadi ghat to inspect the road.
