9 Held in 2008 Bangalore Blasts Case: Police

Times of India / Agency

Bangalore, Feb 7: Nine persons have been arrested in connection with last year's Bangalore serial blasts, police commissioner Shankar Bidari said on Bangalore. With these arrests, the police commissioner declared the serial blasts case solved.

A series of nine bombs rocked Bangalore on July 25, 2008, killing at least two and injuring more than 20 persons.

All the nine are from Kerala, Shankar Bidari told reporters here.

Abdul Sattar, Abdul Jabbar, Sarfudin, Sakariya from Mallapuram, Kerala and Mujeeb, Faizal, Abdul Jaleel, Manaf of Kannur, and Badruddin from Ernakulum have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the July 2008 blasts, Reported PTI quoting DGP Ajai Kumar Singh said.

Four others involved in the blasts were killed in an encounter with the Indian army in Jammu and Kashmir while they were attempting to crossover to Pakistan between October 4 and 7. They were identified as Abdul Raheem, son-in-law of Sattar, Mohammad Fyas, Fayis and Mohammad Yasin from Kerala, he said.

Police, however, did not reveal the name of the group they belonged to. Police also did not divulge anything regarding its association to any militant outfits like Lakshar-e-Toiba.

The module was "radicalised by general feeling of perceived injustice to Muslims in India due to Babri Masjid demolition and Godhra incident and Gujarat riots," the police officer said.

They decided (to trigger blasts) on Bangalore due to the iconic status it acquired after the IT boom and the economic prosperity and that it was BJP-ruled, they said.

I agree with Prafy and Mathew..Politics is killing india...Politicians are playing a very sensitive dirty game with communal issues..Mark my words if these things like pub ,church attacks continue, there would be a civil war in india between the common simple man and the corrupt..there is a end to every beginning.

Prafy's suggestion is the most productive solution to our problem. An idle mind is the devil's workshop, and the politicians know that they can be used and brainwashed to do any dirty and dangerous act like killing and burning. Those people who never did a menial job will be forced to do it to make a living in an alien country, but they will not show any humility to do the same work at home.

There must be a massive reprogramming effort to change the mindset of the young people that doing any job is not degrading in status, but it will create wealth. With the massive unemployment of healthy young people, radical terrorism can be easily injected to the minds of the young generation, and they can be turned as timebombs everywhere.

Instead of fighting / blaming /supporting terror, why don't people do some good work like cleaning their city. Every college has to think about this. Instead of wasting time in cyber cafe, better to do something good. When I was studying, college used to conduct some programmes like cleaning our city, removing parthenium plants etc.,Now a days everyone is behind politics/party or spending their time in cyber cafe.

All this when MLA's daughter is attacked by BJP's Goondas..... Why cover their faces, let us see these so called terrorist faces. Some guys did not have money to buy a decent shoe. I am an indian and I love india more than or as much as any other Indian, I dont have to show it by Attacking women and kidnapping college going girls.

Lastly I have lost trust in Karnataka Police after Pub Attacks, KIdnapping of women and torturing them , Church attacks, Communal riots etc.... If these boys are terrorist or not i dont know as India " You are guilty until your proven innocent and otehr civilized world you are Innocent until proven guilty". What happened to the people who were arrested on terror attack charges in mangalore at the time of church attacks.

No one knows ? Well let me answer, many have been acquited , but no one knows, but what happened when they were arrested, what comments did we read, how did most of us forget Church attcks. Jaago India Jaago Jai Hind

Hello Guys, I am reading some or reader's comments on this subject. Some guys simply write useless comments. If police have arrested the culprits, don't you think they do not have any evidence? Why they didn't come to your house and arrested you guys? How you say they are innocent? Sitting somewhere and commenting like this looks you are corrupt minded ppl.

Don't give religious colour for everything, if there is something wrong happening in respective religion, try to guide them in right way, and don't support for killing innocent people. If Banglaore blast had killed your family, now do you comment same way when they arrest the responsible culprits? Guys come on, don't write like "Filled Cup" minds. Open your mind, no religion teaches to kill the innocent people or take the revenge on certain incident.

If that group wants to take revenge on anybody who did the mistake, let them take on particular people, why they kill innocent people. And some of you guys support them. Shame on you (who support them)

This is common trend of police in India, after any blast they will just pick innocenct Muslim youth to show attainment. We believe there are cases of terrorism but most of the arrests and encounters are fake. In Hyderabad and Gujarat police picked up Muslim youths randomly without evidence and it took years to prove that they are innocenct. We can’t imagine the trauma their families will go through but we can just comment

Whatever may be the reasons for planting bombs, why they did not plant a single bomb in Kerala ??? You want your neighbourhood to be safe and terrorise other innocent people!!!??? This menace could only be wiped out by hanging. This may not be possible our judicial system!!??

The body language and the cloths of these youngsters looks like they are uneducated and poor. Looks like daal me kuch kaala hai. Why Police cover their face? Even terrorist like Sadhvi, Purohit are shown openly why can't these boys face covered? I wonder whether to cover pub etc..etc incident suddenly brought some innocent to show that they are terrorist. Like what happend in many places in India. When the Police and the Sanga Pariwar Govt join together anything can be expected. God save our country and system.

After 7 months from the incident, our police have arrested the so-caled responsible people. From their outfit, (some are even barefoot), they appear to be belonging to middle or poor class. They will be proved guilty only if they do not belong to any strong political party. It is a wait and watch situation. Our politicians have a tendency to create communal disharmony by hurting others sentiments, helping them indirectly to become terrorists and then blaming them.

The people who are caught may be victims of the ruthless terrorist groups like SIMI who sympathesize with Pakistan. These people grow up in India and commit crimes against the mother country. Anyhow, excellent job by Karnataka police and the BJP. People talk about the injustice done by India to these people.

Dusty.. I'm surprised by your comments. Instead of appreciating police actions people like you always whine about things. Police can't disclose all the details to public and it should not. Else media people will pass those information to terrorists that will help terrorists more. I'm sorry that you don't have that common sense.

Blame SIMI along with LeT for any blasts, that cannot be blamed easily on Pakistan. Arrest and put them behind bars without any evidence, but be careful that persons with only muslim names are caught. Then proudly proclaim, the case is solved. Great work. Congratulations to you Sir, police commissioner for declaring the serial blasts case solved. Now we can sing the Jana gana Mana
