Puttur: College Student Sunil D'Souza (19) Drowns in Rivulet

Puttur, Feb 8: Floid Sunil D'Souza (19), a second year degree student of Puttur St Philomena College, drowned while bathing in a rivulet in Shantigodu village in the taluk on the evening of Saturday February 7.He was the son of Philip D'Souza from Kalladka in Bantwal taluk.

A team of 16 students from the college had gone to the said village to take bath in the rivulet. Reportedly, both Floid and his friend Prajwal got caught in a whirlpool while taking bath. A student named Rahul could rescue Prajwal but Floid could not be saved, it is learnt. A search operation was launched for fishing out his body with the help of fire brigade personnel, but to no success till late night on Saturday.

Puttur town police station in-charge Srikant and staff arrived at the spot.

    Very sad to read the untimely death of Floid Sunil. What God wished has happened and one can never change the fate. I deeply mourn the death of Sunil and send sympathies to his entire beloved family and loving parents.     I never believe this incident, i never thought my eyes will see this and ear will listen this sad and untolerable news. I lost my cousin. But same time we all human beings are nothing infront of god. we have to accept his wish and will. Today i pray to god that he may give his family, more strength and blessings to accept his will and wish.

    Very sad and unfortunate incident. may God give enough courage and forebearance to the bereaved family to face this tragic loss. I sincerely request the students and children not to venture into such picnic. Floid you are gone forever, but u left a deep scare and bitter memory in your parents mind
