Mangalore, Feb 10: The activists of the Students Federation of India (SFI) and Communist Party of India (Marxist) urged the state government to impose a ban on the Bajrang Dal and the Sri Ram Sene  for resorting to various incidents of violence in the coastal districts. 

Staging separate protests in front of the DC office here on Monday February 9, they alleged that the goons of the Sangh Parivar have no fear of arrest because of the BJP government in the state. Hindutva vigilante groups have been spreading hatred in the coastal belt which was earlier known for its peace and integrity. 

Addressing the demonstrators, Prasad, joint secretary, SFI, said that one should make friends with others by looking at their character, not religion. “Sangh Parivar cannot rule this country by dividing people in the name of race and caste. They have been talking ill of our sacred constitution without having knowledge of it”, he alleged. 

DYFI district president Muneer Katipalla said that Sharan Naguri, son of a former BJP corporator, was absconding after the assault on the CPI(M) MLA's daughter. This indicates his involvement in the case. Police should arrest him to collect more details about the incident, said Katippala. He also criticized the investigative reporter of a Kannada daily for writing in support of Hindu outfits. 

The demonstrators shouted slogans against the BJP government and the Sangh Parivar. CPI(M) district secretary B Madhava, SFI district secretary Jeevan Raj Kuttar, and president Prasanth Achar, also spoke on the occasion.
