Mangaluru, Oct 23: District Congress Minority Cell president Shahul Hamid warned of severe protests and filing of writ petition in high court if the accused who assaulted two cloth merchants mercilessly at Kaniyoor of Puttur are not arrested.

In a statement, Hameed said, “Assault and attempt to murder case needs to be filed on the accused, who beat two Muslim youth cloth merchants at Kaniyoor, and they need to be arrested. If not we will stage a vehement protest and also file writ in high court.

“Police have filed weak cases on the assaulters in which the police station itself can issue a bail. If proper cases are not filed on the accused, we will protest in front of the Bellare police station.”

U P Ibrahim, Sabitha Misquith, Isaac Salmara, Farooq Bayabe, Hanif Jokatte, Shabbir Siddakatte and Samsuddin Ajjinadka were present.
