Mangaluru, Oct 23: Former MLA JR Lobo said that law and order has completely failed in the district under the administration of the BJP government.

He was addressing a press meet at Congress Bhavan here on Monday, October 24.

He said, “In democracy, law and order should be strong. At Kaniyooru, Rafik and Ramizuddin were attacked. The police department should work without any bias. Baseless rumours have been spread. If there is any problem in the society, there is a law to protect it. But, nobody should take law into hands.”

He also said that a media person has abused Congress leader Pratibha Kulai. “We severely condemn it. Why has the police department not taken action against him?

“Action has been initiated against Sunil Bajilakeri for just posting a cartoon. Why is action not being taken against those who give hate speeches? Why has action not being taken against those who post hate messages on social media?

“No political parties are supreme, but the government department should work as per the law. Why are officers not following the law?” he questioned.

He also said that officials should follow the law and the Constitution without any bias.

Congress leaders Shashidhar Hegde, Prakash Salian and others were present.
