Udupi, Nov 14: The Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration (WGSHA) celebrated the Christmas Fruit Mixing ceremony at WGSHA MAHE on Monday, November 14. It is a well known event organised by WGSHA for many years. The event was conducted holding the fruit Christmas spirit high as the entire venue was decorated beautifully, keeping the theme in mind and giving a festive mood to the whole occasion.

The event is traditionally conducted annually. The fruit mixing ceremony marks the arrival of the harvest festival and all freshly harvested fruits and nuts go into the making of the cake. Fruits and nuts are soaked in rum and brandy also with juice which enhances the flavor of the cakes. The dry fruits and nuts are arranged on a huge table and coins hidden away among the fruits.

The mixture will be put away for two weeks before it is used for baking cake and puddings. The chief guest for the occasion was Vasanti R Pai, MAHE trustee.

Students await this event every year. Unfortunately, they could not celebrate this event for the last two years because of the pandemic. This year, their joy is back. They were taught about cake preparation on a large scale. Students directly involved in this event with some of them preparing the dry fruits, and others doing the pre- preparation, baking, decoration, packaging and some of them also distributed the preparation to more than 100 students.

H S Ballal, pro chancellor, MAHE, Lt Gen Dr M D Venkatesh, vice chancellor, MAHE, Indira Ballal, Dr Narayan Sabhith, registrar, MAHE, Dr Chef K Thirugnanasambantham, principal of WGSHA, Dr Avinash Shetty, medical director, Kasturba Hospital, faculty and students of WGSHA were present in the event.
