Kaup: Traditional fishing boat sinks in sea, loss estimated in lacs

Kaup, Dec 13: A traditional fishing boat which was doing fishing at Ucchila sea shore sunk in the sea causing loss of lacs of rupees.

Sri Girija boat owned by local resident Vimala C Puthran is the boat that got sunk into the sea on the early morning of Monday, December 12. Net and high speed engine that was on the boat is immersed in the deep sea. The loss is estimated to be more than Rs 6.5 lac.

There were seven fishermen on the boat. They were rescued by other boat personnel who were fishing nearby.

A complaint is filed by the owner of the boat at Padubidri police station. MLA Lalaji Mendon visited the site and assured of getting compensation.
