Kundapur, Dec 14: Asha Malvi, a young girl of Rajghad district, Madhya Pradesh is on a countrywide bicycle tour all by herself to proclaim the message that women are safe in India. She reached Kundapura on Wednesday.

She started her journey from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh on November 1 and has the intention of covering a distance of 20,000 kilometres on her bicycle. She has crossed Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Goa so far covering a distance of 3,700 kilometres and has entered Karnataka.

Speaking to news reporters at Kundapura she said that there is a common opinion that women are unsafe in the country due to atrocities committed on them.

“I rode the bicycle for about 70 kilometres to 150 kilometres a day after planning my goal the previous day. I will continue my journey after staying in tourist spots. I spend my own money on food and other expenses. Some people extend monetary help. I visit schools and colleges on the way explaining to them that women are safe and about their safety besides the initiative taken by the country for their safety,” she said.

She will be concluding her tour at Delhi and has the desire to call on the president of India Draupadi Murmu.
