Bengaluru, Dec 16: The State Government has issued orders promoting as many as 274 Associate Professors as Professors.
This decision for according promotion has been taken in accordance with the decision of the Selection Committee for Professional improvement, according to Higher Education Minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan.
In a press statement, Dr Narayan pointed out the University Grants Commission (UGC) had recommended in 2010 itself that Associate Professors can be promoted as Professors. But nothing had been done so far during the last 12 years and he took the initiative to accord promotion, he said.
