Mangaluru: MRPL introduces Kannada spoken classes

Mangaluru, Dec 19: To familiarize the Kannada Language to the Non-Kannada Speaking employees and to enhance their Kannada language competence, 30-day Spoken Kannada classes are organized at Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd, Mangaluru. A Kariya Kudiya, a retired ifficer, Punjab National Bank, Mangaluru, and a Kannada writer inaugurated the programme on December 16 at Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd, Mangaluru.

In his remarks, A Kariya Kudiya appreciated MRPL’s efforts towards a novel practice of conducting Spoken Kannada classes. He also lauded the contribution of MRPL in enriching regional cultures and empowering people through education. He said, In any learning process the background plays a vital role. So, it is essential for the learners to make some background study and attempt to know the rich history of the Kannada Language”.

Invited guest of honour, Sandesh J Cutinho, chief general manager (HR), presented the scenario of the coastal region where most of the people are polyglots and also, advocated its benefits.

Krishna Hegde, Group General Manager, (HR) appreciating the efforts by the Official Language Cell in the execution of Spoken Kannada classes, he stressed the need of knowing the Kannada Language for an amicable relationship with locals during interaction and also briefed how knowing a language add in the profile as an acquired skill.
Dr B R Pal, chief manager (OL), briefed the outline of the classes. Manish, trainee assistant (OL) introduced the chief guest. Deepthi J Attavar, senior officer (Hindi Translator) proposed the vote of thanks. Sandeep Kharvi, junior officer (OLI) welcomed and compered the programme.

Kannada classes are scheduled on every Tuesday and Thursday from 04.00 pm to 5.15 pm at the training centre, MRPL. 35 employees out of 241 registered employees will be attending the Spoken Kannada classes in the present batch.
