Beltangady, Dec 19: Former member of taluk committee of CPIM, former president of Karnataka province farmers’ association Parameshwaran Nair (84), passed away at Laila Jyoti hospital on Monday, December 19.

Nair was a native of Kerala and was involved in agricultural activities at Kodikulat of Kalenja village for the past 30 years. He was close aide of senior communist leaders of Kerala. Simplicity of Nair won the hearts of general public.

Nair led many farmer protests including land protest of Arali Saujanya Nagara. He used to convey the anti-people policies of the government to commoners in an impeccable manner and inspired protests. He used to deeply study the issues of commoners and used to find reason and solution for the same.

Parameshwaran showed worthiness in his death also. He had already informed his children to donate his body to students of any medical college. Accordingly, his mortal remains will be donated to Fr Muller’s Hospital in Mangaluru after the public viewing according to the information shared by lawyer Shivakumar S M, secretary of Beltangady taluk committee.

Nair is survived by wife Mallika, son Madhusudhan, daughter Gayathri and scores of his well-wishers.

CPIM taluk committee opined that the death of Parameshwaran Nair is an irreparable void for the leftist progressive movement.

Taluk secretary lawyer Shivakumar S M, leaders Jayanti Nellingeri, Vasanta Nada, Sukanya Haridas, Rohini Peradi, Sujit Ujire and Shekhar Laila said that Nair had an in depth knowledge about the ideals of the party and led many farmer protests of Beltangady. Party workers used to respect him a lot. His death has caused an irreparable loss to the party.
