Kundapur, Dec 19: “BJP has started religion in politics as elections are approaching. The name of Savarkar has become a tool for BJP which has not been doing any development work,” said KPCC executive president, Udupi district Congress party in-charge Dhruva Narayan in anguish.

Speaking at the A N R guest house, Kollur on Monday, he said that BJP does not get names of the development works to make a list. “Therefore, it is misleading the people by mentioning the name of Savarkar among other things. BJP is trying to fool people by its colourful talk. But it will not work as people will teach them a lesson in the next elections,” he said.

“I am a Hindu too and I do offer poojas. But I do not politicise religion. We can obtain power using religion and caste once. But it is not permanent. People will understand,” he said.

“Pratapchandra Shetty is our senior party leader. We will face elections under his guidance. We will welcome anybody if they want to join our party,” he said.
