Mangaluru Dec 20: On the eve of International Day of Human Solidarity, the Girls Islamic organisation (GIO) organized KIND– 'Keeping up the Indian Notion of Diversity’ at Townhall on Tuesday, December 20.

Speaking on the occasion, principal of PA First Grade College, Mangaluru, Dr Surfraz J Hasim said, "Today we all know what is happening around the world. There is injustice, murder and many more untoward incidents. We need to rethink how children are being educated. We need to give importance to training our mind. God has given us a powerful mind and brain but they are not thinking in the right direction. We need to follow three principles, i.e., forgiveness, expressing gratitude and unconditional love. The moment we forgive someone, we benefit and not just the other person who commits the mistake. The unity in diversity should start from home. Negativity should be turned into positivity by involving ourselves in several activities.

Girls Islamic Organization is a nationwide association that has been working in various fields such as education and social service, against injustice and violations while promoting morality and harmony. The event is an attempt to present the beauty in diversity of our culture, land and people. We intend to have a public cultural event that would showcase humanity as the base of all communities. The public cultural program epitomizes the beauty of our nation with an intent to proclaim that diversity is not an excuse for discrimination, but rather a beautiful aspect that we need to be proud of."

Hira women’s PU College lecturer Aysha Tabassum and Jamath Islami Hind Mangaluru president Ashraf was also present.

Girls Islamic Organization district in-charge Aysha Fida also spoke on the occasion,

Najfath welcomed the gathering and compered the event.
