Mangaluru, May 25: The developments in state politics is proof enough that anything may happen anytime in political circles. By nominating U T Khader as speaker, leader in Kharge faction is given the chance to join the cabinet. Similarly, there is one more curious development is taking place in the party.

The Congress party is thinking of making Ramanath Rai as MLC and then minister in the cabinet. Khader was made speaker to create embarrassment for the BJP and Rai is chosen to defeat the BJP in the coming Lok Sabha elections.

Khader was made the speaker of the state assembly for two hidden reasons. One was to make the Hindu leaders of districts where BJP’s presence is strong, to bow their heads to a Muslim leader of the house. The other is to make Manjunath Bhandary, close aide of Kharge family, and get a minister post.

Meanwhile, there is also a possibility that the plan of Kharge faction will be upset by the Siddaramaiah faction as Ramanath Rai is equal to Kharge in terms of seniority. There is a plot of make Ramanath Rai as MLC and get him into the cabinet. This attempt is also made to woo the strong Bunt community of coastal region towards Congress as Ramanath Rai belongs to Bunt community.

It is said that regional Congress in-charge Randeep Surjewala has also given green signal for making Ramanath Rai as MLC and minister.

Some days ago, Ramanath Rai said that he is bidding goodbye to electoral politics. However, he also clarified that his goodbye does not apply to the upper house. So now the plan of Siddaramaiah faction seems to turn into reality soon and Rai will be made MLC and minister in all probability.
