Bengaluru, Nov 12: The Karnataka State Backward Classes Commission has extended the deadline for self-participation in the ongoing social and educational census till November 30, allowing those who could not take part earlier to submit their details online.
The commission stated that individuals who have not yet provided their information can now participate in the caste census through the online link https://kscbcselfdeclaration.karnataka.gov.in until November 30.

The door-to-door data collection phase of the census, conducted by enumerators, concluded on October 31, covering 89.48% of the total enumeration target. According to official data, about 4.22 lakh households had refused to participate in the survey. To ensure that everyone has an opportunity to be included, the online participation period has been extended.
The commission’s statement clarified that the extension is being given to ensure complete public participation. As of October 31, an estimated 6.13 crore people across 6.85 crore of Karnataka’s total population had taken part in the survey. Around 34.49 lakh houses were found locked or vacant during the enumeration process.
The survey, which began on September 22, was originally scheduled to end on October 7 but was extended multiple times for various reasons.
The social and educational census is being conducted scientifically using a 60-question questionnaire, with an estimated expenditure of Rs 420 crore. In comparison, the previous census conducted in 2015 had cost Rs 165.51 crore but was later abandoned.
