Celebrating legacy: Panchami Maroor’s national, state awards complete 10 Years

Mangaluru, Nov 14: A decade has passed since Panchami Maroor received the National Child Award for Exceptional Achievement from the Government of India in 2015. She was honoured at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi, where the then president Pranab Mukherjee presented her the national award. On the same day, she was felicitated with the Karnataka State Award by the then governor Vajubhai Vala.

Panchami, daughter of Parshwanatha and Deepashree, and wife of Yathish M, is currently pursuing an MBA after completing her Bachelor of Commerce degree. She is also the sister of Pratham Maroor.

A dedicated and versatile artiste, Panchami has performed on more than 1,800 stages across diverse platforms. She has excelled in Yakshagana, Bharatanatyam, folk and western dance, singing, public speaking, NCC, and academics.

She has gained popularity through television reality shows such as Udaya TV’s ‘Chinnara Loka’, Zee Kannada’s ‘Kuniyonu Baara’, and Suvarna Channel’s ‘Putani Pantru’.

Over the years, she has received numerous honours including Sadhanashree, Baala Pratibhashree, D K District Rajyotsava Sadhaka Puraskara, Alvas Vidyarthi Siri Puraskar, Kalkura Baalasiri, Karunada Padmashree Puraskar, Keerthi Samman Puraskar, and several district, state, and national-level awards.

In 2016, she was honoured with the district award for social service under the Keladi Chennamma and Hoysala Project of the Karnataka Government, and cleared the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship exam.

In 2017, Panchami represented Karnataka at the Republic Day Parade in New Delhi, performing Yakshagana in the presence of prime minister Narendra Modi. She also interacted with the president, vice president, and defence minister. The same year, she was chosen Best NCC Cadet from the 18 Karnataka Battalion and served as president of the State-level Children’s Conference in Tumkur.

In 2018, she received the National Jain Inspiring Youth Award during Mahamastakabhisheka at Shravanabelagola, and the National Gyan Pratibha Puraskar in Agra. She was honoured as ‘Yuva Minugu Thare’ by D K Jaina Maitri Koota, and in 2019 was awarded Best Outgoing Student at Jain College, Moodbidri.

In 2020, Panchami received the Vivek Puraskar Youth Award during Vivekotsava and a Certificate of Excellence from KIOCL Limited, a Government of India enterprise, on International Women’s Day.

Despite her artistic and social commitments, Panchami has remained academically strong, scoring 90% in SSLC and 95% in II PUC.

Panchami and Yathish run a dance institute, Shree Paramparaa Hejje Gejje YP Art Foundation, in Bengaluru. Yathish also works as a digital PRO in the film industry, and together they manage Yathi Events and Digital Promotion Team.

Both continue to contribute to Indian art, culture, education, and youth empowerment with dedication and passion.
