M'luru: Michael D’Souza opens autism primary training centre at Manasa Special School in Pamboor

Udupi, Nov 15: The newly established Autism Division Primary Training Centre at Manasa Special School, Pamboor, was inaugurated on Saturday, November 15, marking a significant step forward in the institution’s mission to support specially-abled children.

Inaugurating the centre, entrepreneur and philanthropist Michael D’Souza highlighted the responsibility involved in caring for specially-abled children. “Caring for special children is both challenging and meaningful. With proper care, encouragement, and consistent support, these children can achieve great heights,” he said.

Calling specially-abled children “assets to society,” Michael D’Souza lauded Manasa’s 28-year journey in providing dedicated education and care. He commended the school’s management and teachers for their exemplary service and assured continued support for the institution’s initiatives. Michael and Flavia D’Souza, donors who funded the construction of the new centre, were felicitated on the occasion.

The newly inaugurated centre was blessed by Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi Diocese.

The programme witnessed the presence of several dignitaries, including Fr Denis D’Sa, PRO of Udupi Diocese; retired Commodore Jerome Castelino; Manasa principal Sr Vinny Gonsalves; joint secretary Mary D’Souza; treasurer Joseph F Noronha; trustees Dr Edward Lobo, Henry Menezes, Kiran Crasta; advisory committee members Walter Cyril Pinto, Gerald Rodrigues, Gracy Lasrado; Michael D’Souza Trust Advisory members Oswald Rodrigues, Lionel Aranha, Stephen Pinto; along with donors, teachers, parents, and well-wishers.

Manasa Trust president John Martis welcomed the gathering, while Secretary Dr Gerald Pinto delivered the vote of thanks. Reena D’Souza and Laveena Monis compered the event.
