Udupi, Nov 16: In view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Udupi on November 28, Udupi deputy commissioner Swaroop TK has issued an order permitting temporary vehicular movement under the Ambalapady Junction flyover on National Highway 66 from November 15 to 30 to ensure smooth traffic flow in the city.

Concrete work on both sides of the four-lane stretch of the Thirthahalli–Malpe National Highway 169(A) at Adi Udupi has already begun, and a notification banning vehicle movement on both sides of this road until November 30 has been issued.

As the Prime Minister is expected to take part in a programme at Udupi Sri Krishna Math on November 28, the superintendent of police, Udupi, and the project director of the National Highways Authority of India (Project Implementation Unit) had requested that vehicle movement under the Ambalapady flyover be allowed temporarily to avoid any traffic disruptions during the visit.

After considering their report and proposal, temporary vehicular movement under the flyover has been permitted under Section 115 of the Central Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and Section 221(A)(2) and (5) of the Karnataka Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989, the order stated.
