Udupi, Nov 15: M V Kamath, veteran journalist and former chairman, Prasar Bharati, released ‘Peeping Inside the Body’, a book authored by Dr H S Ballal, pro-chancellor, Manipal University, and Dr P D Gupta, in a programme held at Manipal University auditorium, on Friday November 14. 

Dr Vinod Bhat, registrar, Manipal University international programmes, and Dr R P Warrier, vice-chancellor, Manipal University, were present on the dais. The book has been written in a very lucid manner, and is targeted at non-radiologists. The book aims at developing a better understanding between patient and doctor. Medical students, clinicians, and the common man, will benefit from the book. 

The chief objective of the book is to create awareness among patients about the imaging techniques available, the type of information these images will provide, and which imaging mode is best suited for diagnosing which disease. Besides, the book contains chapters on almost all topics related to radiology like x-rays, CT scans, MRIs, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, endoscopy, laparoscopy, and the like. Dr K M Kariappa compered the programme.
