Moodbidri: Historical Koti-Chennaya Jodukere Kambala on Jan 24, 25

Moodbidri, Jan 23: The historic Koti-Chennaya Jodukere Kambala will be held here on Satuday January 24 and Sunday January 25. The Kambala will be inaugurated at 8.00 am on Saturday, said Kambala Samiti honorary president and MLA Abhayachandra Jain.
Addressing media persons at a press conference held here on Thursday January 22, Jain said that it will be held in association with the Koti Chennaya Jodukare Kambala Samiti, Kadalakere Nisargadhama, and Veera Rani Abbakka Heritage Village, Ontikatte.
Alangar Our Lady of Rosary parish priest Fr Vincent D’Souza, Badagu Mahalingeshwar temple managing trustee Vedamurti Eshwar Bhat, and E M Shafi Puttige will inaugurate the Kambala.
Chowta Aramane Kuldip M will preside over the programme.
Senior journalist K J Shetty Kadandale, hotelier Nandakumar Kudwa, industrialist Vishwanath Prabhu, builder P K Thomas, Padmashree Agencies proprietor Abijit M, Adla Media Network Stephen Mendis, Laxman V Shetty and Mother India buses’ owner Abdul Latif, will be the chief guests of the occasion, who will be offered a traditional welcome on the occasion.
Kambala Samiti chief secretary Gunapal Kadamba was present at the press meet.
Hollywood Township promoter Ronald Colaco will preside over the programme at 6.00 pm on Saturday. Union Administrative Reforms Commission chairman M Veerappa Moily will be the chief guest on the occasion.
State Youth Congress Krishna Baire Gowda, Dakshina Kannada district-in-charge minister Krishna J Palemar, K Rajavarma Ballal, Goldfinch Prakash Shetty, MLAs B Ramanath Rai, Vasant Bangera, Gopal Bhandary, and U T Khader, Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat president Sucharita Shetty, Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner (DC) Ponnuraj, Sundar Naik, former MLA Sunil Kumar, former MP Vinay Kumar Sorake, former minister Amarnath Shetty, Alva’s Education Foundation chairman Dr M Mohan Alva, South Canara District Central Co-operative (SCDCC) Bank president M N Rajendra Kumar, municipal councilor Bhoja Kotian, and deputy councilor Koragappa, will grace the occasion.
Handlers of the winning pair of buffaloes will be presented the medals on Sunday at the Hosabettu Yerimaru Barke late Sadhoo Sanil stage.
Mumbai Kala Jagattu cultural organization promoter and Rajyotsav award recipient Tonse Vijay Kumar Shetty and eminent Kambala juror Kadande Kondangimane Sundar Poojary will be felicitated at the same occasion.
