Mangalore: Two Konkani Books Released

Mangalore, Jan 27:
Two Konkani books by veteran writers Fr V J Menezes and Dr Edward L Nazareth were released here on Monday, January 26 in Kalaangann here at a function organized by Sangathi Media to celebrate the completion of fifty five years of `Mithr' Konkani weekly.
 
`Altoddi Poltoddi – Part 2' by Fr V J Menezes is a collection of essays and `Kallokantlim Savalam' is a compilation of questions and answers on health and sex related issues by Dr Edward L Nazareth.  Both these columns are very popular among the readers of Mithr.
 

 

Chief Guest of the function, Lancy Madtha, managing director, Integrated Freight Systems LLC, Dubai gave a call to all the Konkani writers to join the Konkani movement and work for the betterment of Konkani.  Another guest Roy Castelino, president, Konkani Prachar Sanchalan expressed the fear that unless the Konkani people work aggressively and unitedly, the movement of teaching Konkani in schools might face hurdles. 
 
Titus Noronha spoke on the present Konkani scenario and expressed unhappiness about the attitude of the Konkani speaking  people towards their mother tongue. He praised the efforts of all the partners of Sangathi Media for the past five years and wished them success in the future years.
 
A MP3 of konkani songs, a combo of three audio albums – Sopnnam, Chandennem and Jaadu by Lloyd Rego, Taccode was released during the occasion. 
 
Andrew L DCunha spoke about mangaloremithr.com which is being run by Sangathi Media. Lloyd Rego and Vitori Karkal spoke on the occasion. Roshan D'Souza Ferar was present on the dais.

Dr Edward L Nazareth was felicitated on the occasion of his 50th birthday. Eric Ozario introduced Dr Nazareth to the audience.
 
Richard Kavtar welcomed the gathering. Ronald Fernandes proposed vote of thanks. Geo Agrar compered the programme.
