Mangalore: Devotees Offer Gold Crown to Lord Venkatramana

Mangalore, Feb 2:
A gold crown was offered to the deity at Venkatramana Temple in Car Street on Sunday February 1, on the eve of the annual ‘Theru’ or car festival.

The crown worth about Rs 5 lac and weighing 400 gms, has been donated by the devotees of the temple. It was offered to Lord Venkatramana by Sri Sudheendra Theerta    Swami of Kashi Math Samsthan.
 

 

 

The five-day car festival will culminate on Monday February 2, and will be followed by the popular ‘Okkuli’ (Holi) on Tuesday February 3.

The Lord will wear the crown during the ‘Mruga Bete’, which is held as part of the festival.

C L Shenoy, Madhava Kamath, and Nithyanada Nayak, trustees of the temple were present at the time of offering the crown.

    I was so thrilled to see these beautiful pictures. Living here in US, we miss to see such occasions, but hopefully next year I wish to be there.
