Karkala: Lord Venkatramana Temple Gets Golden Door

Karkala, Feb 3: The main door of Lord Venkatramana Temple, also known as 'Padutirupati,' along with its frame, made by well-known jewellery firm Swarna Jewellers, was handed over to devotees who ordered it for being offered to the temple, on Monday February 2. The door is being dedicated to the temple on Tuesday February 3.

Rama Bai and Harishchandra Madhav Kamat from Mumbai are the devotees who have got the golden door made for the temple of their beloved deity. 

On behalf of them, son Ashish Harishchandra Kamat and daughter Shobha Vinayak Kulkarni received the door from Gujjady Narasimha Nayak, head of the jewellery firm.

The cost of the door that has consumed eight kgs of gold and 35 kgs of silver is around Rs 1.5 crore. The intricate carving and designing work took the firm around three months to complete. On this occasion, Dinesh Acharya and Raghavendra Acharya were honoured, as the representatives of the craftsmen who made the door.

Ravindra Bhat from the family of priests serving the Lord at Padutirupati and partners of Swarna Jewellers were present. Gujjady Prabhakar Nayak conducted the programme. Gujjady Ajay Nayak proposed vote of thanks.
