Beltangady, Feb 3: Villagers of Mundoor in the taluk on Monday February 2, protested against a teacher of the government school of their village who they allege, attends to her duties in an inebriated condition. To register their unacceptability of the teacher, they locked up the school.

In the past, lot of complaints had been made against the said teacher, which echoed in the taluk panchayat session too. The villagers had held demonstration against her. The teacher in question was transferred to Gerukatte School then. As the people of that village opposed her functioning, she was shifted to Peraldarakatte. In this school, the parents of the children locked up the school gate, to show their opposition to the working style of this teacher.

She has again been transferred to Mundoor school. The government has opted to transfer the teacher in question repeatedly instead of initiating disciplinary action against her. The protesters said they would not open the lock until the teacher is shunted out of this school.
