Moodbidri, Feb 4: The first ever All Karnataka Beladingala Sahitya Sammelan will be held near Ajekar Kurpady Bobbarya temple, from 6.00 pm on Monday February 9 to 6.00 am on Tuesday February 10. It has been organized by Kurpady Yuva Vranda to mark the decennial celebrations of Gramotsav.
The stage has been named in honour of veteran social worker and philanthropist S Loku Shetty and the venue has been named ‘Janamma–Somayya–Muttamma’. This Sahitya Sammelan is a unique event as it is being held under the moonlight in pristine surroundings. Eminent litterateur H Dundiraj will preside over the event.
Kannada Sahitya Parishat former president Harikrishna Punaroor will inaugurate the Sammelan at 4.00 pm on Monday and Karkala MLA H Gopal Bhandary will preside over the fuction.
Kannada Sahitya Parishat Dakshina Kannada district president Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, Karnataka Rakashana Vedike state president Praveen Kumar Shetty, Kannada Sahitya Parishat Karkala unit Prof Padmanabha Gowda, Udupi unit Gananat Yekkar, Kundapur unit Ko Ramanand Kamath, and Sammelan Samiti president Dr Santosh Kumar Shetty will be the chief guests on the occasion.
Karnataka Tulu Academy former member Jayanti S Bangera will preside over the women’s conference while S V G Women’s College principal Mitraprabha Hegde will be the chief guest.
Lecturers Mudrady and Sulata Vidhyadar will present compositions on ‘Challenges of Women’ and ‘Folklore’, respectively.
The poets’ sessions will be held at midnight, and will be presided over by Dr Vasant Kumar Perla, attended by Dhananjaya Moodbidri, Sadanand Naravi, Ramanand Ajekar, Davanjaya Gurupur, Arun Hebri, and Ashini Sunil.
TV serial actor Ko Ramanand Kamath and Arun Kumar Shiroor will enthrall the gathering with a comedy session.
Journalist Padmakar Bhat will present a composition on ‘Bobbarya and Harmony’ while Srikar Bhat will present a paper on ‘Tuluvere Keddesa’. B C Rao Shivapura will be the chief guest for this.
Karnataka Tulu Academy former president Dr Vaman Nandavar will preside over the function where awards will be conferred on MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik and Alva’s Education Foundation chairman Dr M Mohan Alva.
Bharat Seva Dal Udupi district president Gokuldas Pai and district Photo Journalists’ Association president Hemanath Padubidri will be the chief guests.
Felicitation of achievers: Dr H Shantharaj will be conferred the ‘Shikshana Ratna’, Ambatanaya Mudrady the ‘Sahitya Ratna’, Uppunda Chandrashekar Holla the ‘Sangatana Ratna’, and Kochapana the ‘Janapada Kala Ratna’. Dr Vasant Kumar Perla and Chidambara Baikampady will be conferred the ‘Madyama Ratna’ while Shivaram Kasargod will be given the ‘Horanada Kannada Ratna’, and Pramod Madwaraj the ‘Udyama Ratna’, K J Ganesh will be conferred the ‘Yaksha Sangeet Ratna’ and Jyoti Guruprasad will be given the ‘Kavya Ratna’ on the occasion.
Karkala literary union and Saligrama Friends Group will be given the ‘Ratna Gouramma’ for their literary pursuits while the ‘Sadaka’ award will be presented to the local panchayat administration for their bagging the ‘Nirmala Gram’ award.
Premiere of a new movie: Entrepreneur Shivakumar and Vijaya Shetty will inaugurate the screen premiere of Kannada movie ‘Gajina Gopura’, for the first time at a Sahitya Sammelan. It is directed and produced by Prakash Kabettu with cameraman Deepak Shetty and music by Rajesh Bhat of ‘Talents’, Moodbidri, and the script and dialogue by Ratnaprakash.
Book releases: ‘Peter Fan’, authored by Dr B Janardhan Bhat, ‘Daiva Darshana’ by G V Sharma, ‘Students Mind Power’ by Raja Chendoor, ‘Nudi Muttu’ for students by K Ravichandra Rao, ‘Rajayana’ by Jagannath Rau Bahule, all published by Sadana Prakashan will be released on the occasion.
An exhibition of books will be held by Puttur Prakashana. The best works of photographers will also be displayed here in association with the District Photo Journalists’ Association.
Yakshagana Sangeet maestro Shekar Ajekar will stage the latest innovation in Yakshagana music early on Tuesday. A ‘Talamaddale’ episode will also be staged by Yaksha Jyoti Kala Mandal, Parkala, with K J Ganesh (Bhagavat) and A P Patak on drums.
Shekar Ajekar will release the souvenir ‘Grama Gourav’.
