Mangalore: ‘Janatha Nyayalaya’ Campaign Initiated

Mangalore, Jan 14: On Thursday January 13, chief district and sessions judge, H R Deshpande, initiated the campaigns of legal literacy chariot and ‘Janatha Nyayalaya (People's Court)’ at the premises of the district court here.

These initiatives have been undertaken by Dakshina Kannada Legal Services Authority in association with various departments and organizations, with the objective of spreading legal awareness among common people. Speaking on the occasion, Deshpande said that this campaign has been going on in different taluks of the district since the last two weeks, and that the legal literacy chariot will move through different parts of Mangalore taluk during the next three days during this final phase.

Mangalore Bar Association president, S P Chengappa, said that those cases, which can be settled through compromise, will be disposed off through mobile court. He stated that over 2.5 crore cases are pending disposal in various courts in the country, and that a number of cases can be decided through mobile courts.

District superintendent of police, Dr Subrahmanyeshwar Rao, felt that this campaign needs more publicity, and promised full support for the campaign by his department.

Permanent Janatha Nyayala president, K Radhakrishna Holla, and SDM Law College principal, Dr B K Ravindra,  were present.
