Udupi: Deputy commissioner urges officials to take Covid precautions

Udupi, Apr 19: Deputy commissioner Kurma Rao M on Wednesday, April 19, directed officials to implement Covid precautions in light of the recent surge in cases.

He spoke after chairing a meeting on the Covid situation at the Rajatadri deputy commissioner's office on Saturday. He instructed officials to conduct laboratory tests on the throat fluid of patients admitted for treatment at the district, taluk, and private hospitals.

As the elections approach, he also ordered officials to take the necessary precautions in crowded areas, places where election staff are being trained, and other similar locations.

Discussions were held on infectious diseases that people may contract during the summer and rainy seasons. The meeting was attended by District Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr. Nagabhooshan Udupa, District Surgeon Dr. Madhusoodan Nayak, District Observer Dr. Nagarathna, IMA President Dr. P.V. Bhandary, and several other department officials.
