Udupi, Apr 20: Election observer Tukaram Haribahu Munde has emphasized the importance of conducting fair and transparent elections in compliance with all guidelines from the center and state regarding the Vidhan Sabha elections. Munde presided over the election preparation meeting at the Deputy Commissioner's office in Manipal on April 20.

Munde urged officials to ensure that necessary facilities are provided at the polling booths and that the option to vote from the residences of people above 80 years of age, differently-abled individuals, and Covid victims is implemented. He also stressed the importance of avoiding any confusion during the training of election staff, providing adequate training on the voting machine, and making arrangements for voting by post when necessary.

General observer of Karkala, Andhra Vamshi, announced that a meeting of political party agents will be held in the future, during which their complaints will be scrutinized. Cost observer Ankit Somani directed Lead bank officials to keep an eye on bank dealings. Police observer Binita Takur obtained details of the police personnel deployed at polling booths, security measures taken at sensitive and very sensitive booths, and directed officials to provide suitable security.

Deputy Commissioner Kurma Rao M explained the precautions taken for the elections. Also present were Karkala general observer Andhra Vamshi, cost observer Gorse Prasad Dattatreya, district panchayat chief executive Prasanna H, district SP Akshay M Hakay, IAS officer under training Yathish, additional DC Veena B N, and various nodal officers.
