Bagalkot, Sep 3: The modern day 'Bedara Kannappa' who had on Thursday August 28, gouged out his right eye and offered the same to the late Shankraiah Ajja's seat in which he reposes full faith, removed his left eye too on Tuesday September 2, to turn into a totally blind person.

Mudukappa, who was being treated in Badami government hospital for healing the wounds resulting out of the last week's episode, started behaving strangely at about 3 am on Tuesday and ejected his left eye with fingers, although three persons tried to stop him.

He held the removed eye in his hands and collapsed to the ground because of excessive bleeding.  The hospital staff succeeded in binding him with a rope and then brought him from the Badami hospital to Kumareshwara hospital in Bagalkot. Mudukappa appears to have lost his mental faculties and is continuing to behave in a strange manner, chanting and singing praises of the Lord.

Dr Lakshman Das, ophthalmologist of Kumareshwara Hospital said that the left eye of Mudukappa, which was deposited with the hospital, has been found to have suffered damages, nullifying chances of its re-use, either for Mudukappa or others.

Mudukappa was operated upon by Dr Lakshman Das for healing a wound suffered while removing his right eye, a week back. On Monday, he had visited this doctor for getting his right eye dressed. After dressing his wounds, the doctor had sent him back to Badami government hospital.
