Puttur, Sep 4: School students of Vittal near here celebrated Ganeshotsav in an innovative way, by setting up a pandal in a truck shed on wednesday September 3. Vijay, son of Narayan Shetty, and a student of Class IX of Talipadpu in Alike village, near here, had sculpted an idol of Lord Ganesh after school hours, along with his fellow students.

Then they set up a pandal in a truck shed owned by Anand Shetty in their locality and placed the idol there. The children went around the village seeking contributions for the grand celebration of Ganeshotsav, and doubled as priests in worshipping Lord Ganesh with fervour.

The then mounted the idol of Lord Ganesh on two bicycles, and took it to a nearby pond for immersion. This is the fifth consecutive year that the students have organized the Ganeshotsava.

Meanwhile, Prasanna G, son of Shivappa Gowda and a Class VII student of Jadekal ZP Higher Primary School, near Puttur, installed an idol of Lord Ganesh at their school which was worshiped by them over the past two weeks. The students contributed their pocket money to meet the expenses in organizing grand celebrations and the idol was immersed in a rivulet that flows in the neighbourhood.
