Mangalore: Excessively Loaded Truck Goes Awry, Claims One Life

Mangalore, Sep 4: A person was killed, after a heavily loaded truck went haywire and hit several vehicles at Pandeshwar in the city on Wednesday September 3.

The Kerala-based truck, excessively loaded with goods, was moving towards Kerala while it suffered brake failure near Pandeshwar Ashwathakatte. It hit a Maruti Omni vehicle coming from the opposite direction and rubbed a parked motor vehicle before hitting a rickshaw, injuring a passenger named Aziz fatally.

Local corporator Diwakar and Bajrang Dal convener Shivanand Mendon immediately took Aziz to hospital. But he succumbed to injuries at the hospital. Aziz, a resident of Old Kent Road in the city, was a merchant having a shop in Kudroli. He was going in the rickshaw for some work, when tragedy struck.
