Mangalore: Catholic Education Board Observes Teachers Day

Mangalore, Sep 4: Catholic Education Board, organized teachers day celebrations at Shantikiran auditorium, here on Thursday September 4 morning.  

Ramachandra Gowda, SSLC exams nodal officer, speaking on the occasion, said, "We need more teachers to respond to the needs of students, in order to inspire them to take interest in other spheres since majority of school pass-outs are aspiring to join IT and BPO.  

Moses Jayakar, block education officer and Ramachandra Gowda honoured the talented students who secured highest marks in the exams.

Fr Henry Sequeira, chancellor of Mangalore diocese felicitated the retired teachers on the occasion.

Fr Wilson V D Souza, Board secretary, honoured the district excellent teacher awardees.  

The students of Padua pre-university college rendered the prayers.  The students of St Lawrence School, Bondel, staged the welcome dance while Kuloor high school students presented the wishing song.

Nagaraj Shetty compered the programme.  Fr Alwyn Serrao, principal of Rosario Pre-University College proposed vote of thanks.

The students of St Ligoury’s higher primary school, Neermarga and Morning Star School, Bajpe, staged folk dance as part of entertainment programme.
